Wilsons Auctions to flog thousands of new jewellery pieces as Shannon’s Jewellers closes down

After the closure of a Northern Ireland jeweller over 1,000 of its new pieces are set to go under the hammer at auction house Wilsons.

Shannon’s Jewellers in Lisburn on the outskirts of Belfast has been a family retailer for nearly 60 years, but is unfortunately closing its doors.

Wilsons’ Belfast branch will deal with nearly 1,500 pieces of jewellery from Shannon’s Jewellers’ stock.

The auction house will hold a series of sales over the coming weeks, beginning with the first on Thursday, 1 April 2021at 11am.

The 24-hour auction will then close to bidding at 11am the following day, Friday, 2 April.

Speaking about the closure of Shannon’s, Mervyn Shannon told the Belfast News Letter: “This wasn’t an easy decision, having been located in Lisburn City Centre for almost 60 years.

“We always pride ourselves on giving our customers the best quality service however, unfortunately the pandemic has highlighted the need for us to close Shannon’s Jewellers in Lisburn.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank our customers and loyal staff who have been so supportive to us and the business over the years.”

Wilsons has not confirmed how many auctions will be held to sell the Shannon’s stock.
