The Dubai Multi-Commodities Centre said it is planning to hold a “world first” lab-grown diamond symposium this summer.

The symposium is scheduled for Monday, July 10 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

DMCC said it will bring together lab-grown diamond and technology leaders from around the world, including retailers, banks, government stakeholders, and diamond growers and manufacturers.

Discussions will center on several core themes: financing and regulation, marketing, sustainability, and reputation.

No list of speakers is available as of yet, but DMCC is asking anyone who is interested in attending to register online (https://landing.dmcc.ae/lgd2023).

“Since the arrival of farmed pearls from Japan in the 1930s, the UAE has recognized the potency, challenges and benefits of disruptive industries,” Ahmed Bin Sulayem, DMCC executive chairman and CEO, said.

“Lab-grown represents a completely new and unique industry with its own set of opportunities, from jewelry to heat sinks and semiconductors. This symposium shows we are ahead of the curve in driving crucial industry conversation for lasting and positive outcomes not just in Dubai but at the global level.”
