Fine diamonds to shine at HK auction
A rare selection of fancy colour diamonds is expected to attract buyers’ attention at Phillips upcoming Hong Kong Jewels Auction scheduled for October 5, 2023.
Nearly 100 lots featuring an assortment fancy colour diamonds, unheated Burmese rubies and sapphires, Colombian emeralds and vintage signed pieces by Cartier, Bulgari, Van Cleef & Arpels, Boucheron, De Beers and Chopard, to name a few, will be on offer.
A highlight of the sale is a 1.63-carat round brilliant-cut fancy intense blue diamond mounted on a ring, which is expected to fetch up to US$1.6 million.
Other stars of the auction are a pair of earrings adorned with a 9.69-carat and a 9.71-carat fancy intense yellow diamond, respectively, which is valued at US$425,000 to US$560,000; and a 5.41-carat fancy orangey-pink diamond ring, which has a pre-sale estimate of US$250,000 to US$500,000.
The fancy colour diamond lots are certified by the Gemological Institute of America.
Louisa Chan, head of sale at Hong Kong of Phillips Jewels, commented, “We have witnessed heated bidding resulting in high sell-through rates from our Spring jewellery sales in Hong Kong and New York. This season’s Hong Kong sale is emblematic of the very best of today’s market and we look forward to carrying on the sturdy buying momentum to our saleroom in October.”
