Jewelry Brands Kick Into Action for the World Cup
Soccer fever has
bounced into jewelry, with brands covering soccer balls in diamonds, making
necklaces out of ball material, and collaborating with celebrities attending or
performing at World Cup games.
The 2026 FIFA
tournament is the largest World Cup in history: The number of teams increased
from 32 to 48, and the 104 matches (up from 64 in previous years) are being
played in 16 cities in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, all leading up to
a Super Bowl–like final July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Jewelry brand Jacob
& Co. was seen on soccer’s biggest stage when Mexican singer Belinda
(pictured at top) wore its Lockdown diamond choker, Infinia earrings, and
Brilliant Flying Caviar Tourbillion Rubes watch—a piece valued at $1.3
million—during her performance at the World Cup opening ceremony June 11 in
Mexico City.
Another jeweler out to
grab soccer fans’ attention—at a similar price point—is Almor Designs. The
company has created “the world’s most dazzling soccer ball,” as managing
director Tomer Enayatian called it: a 5.5-inch 18k white gold ball covered in
507 cts. black and white diamonds, and priced at over $1.08 million.
Meanwhile, Renaissance
Jewel is selling the officially licensed World Cup pendant for the first time.
Only 10,000 pendants are available, each engraved with its unique edition
number on the rim alongside the 2026 FIFA World Cup inscription. The silver version
with 1 ct. lab-grown diamonds is priced at $779.
For its soccer-themed
offering, Rebel Nell has teamed up with former player Ashlyn Harris, who won
two Women’s World Cups. The collection—inspired, according to the Detroit-based
brand, by “grit, growth, and greatness”—features limited-edition jewelry pieces
made from repurposed World Cup soccer ball material. They include a lapel pin
at $40 and charms in gold and silver colors starting at $90. Each one is
inscribed with Harris’ personal mantra: “This is your journey. Live the life
you imagined.”
Jewelry designer Adina
Reyter has promoted her bead necklaces in team colors for the World Cup, as
well as her Groovy Initial charms in U, S, and A for American fans. Reyter also
highlights the red, white, and blue Stars and Stripes bead necklace for those
rooting on Team USA, or the Seaside Stripes bead necklace in colors of the
Argentina, Uruguay, or Scotland flag.
Zales also has gotten
into marketing for the world’s biggest sporting event, with jewelry that
features soccer motifs, colorful diamonds that represent team colors or country
flags, and statement pieces to celebrate love of the sport. Zales’ solid gold soccer
ball charm retails for $1,299, while a smaller hollow soccer ball charm, also
in 14k, is priced at $349.
At Alex + Ani, the
soccer ball is June’s Symbol of the Month, as the brand highlights such jewels
as a beaded bangle ($29) and an enamel locket necklace ($41) that opens to
reveal a gold-finished piece engraved “control the ball, command the game.”
