Innovations optimising jewellery manufacturing
Advanced equipment and
supplies aimed at delivering greater precision and efficiency are now more
widely available to jewellery manufacturers seeking to better streamline
production processes.
Next-generation laser
welders with digital displays and programmable presets are helping jewellers
accelerate production without compromising quality.
A notable example is
LC Laser’s LC-Weld Smart, a compact laser welding machine equipped with the
latest generation laser generator, a seven-inch touch screen, user-friendly
software and an active air-cooling system. Designed to support precision work
on a range of metals, the machine offers the flexibility of working with or
without an integrated wire input.
“LC-Weld Smart enables
high-quality welds with very fine beads, complete penetration and minimal
excess material. This saves time on polishing and costs. The laser produces
firm, deep welds without overheating the material, resulting in significantly
less deformation,” the company noted.
Meanwhile, the eLUXE3D
Platinum 3D Scanner is designed to convert jewellery pieces to micron-level
digital twins. From high-volume manufacturing to bespoke designs, this scanner
delivers the microscopic detail needed to automate production and improve workflow
consistency. Jewellery manufacturers can use it to create 3D print-ready
meshes, achieving faster turnarounds and eliminating manual errors.
Key applications
include digitally capturing freeform and irregular gemstones to obtain precise
geometry for computer-aided design and building bezels and prongs that fit on
the first attempt, reducing unnecessary handling risks. Manufacturers can also
digitise existing pieces to analyse structures, modify details, carry out
repairs or integrate new design elements.
