Hong Kong jewellery exports surge in August
Jewellery exports from
Hong Kong sustained strong growth over the first eight months of 2026,
reflecting an overall upward trajectory in the city’s export sector.
Government data showed
shipments of jewellery, goldsmiths' and silversmiths' wares rose 44.1
per cent to HK$31.46 billion (around US$4.01
billion) in August alone and 47.6 per cent to HK$245.11 billion (approximately US$31.25
billion) from January to August 2026.
Jewellery imports also
climbed 65.5 per cent to HK$42.4
billion (around US$5.41 billion) in August.
January-to-August figures, meanwhile, were up 50.9 per
cent to HK$316.26 billion (about US$40.31
billion).
Overall exports rose 53 per cent to HK$667.9 billion (around US$85.14 billion) in August, with shipments to almost all major
markets rising markedly.
The government said
robust demand for AI-related electronic products had driven merchandise exports
and was expected to continue underpinning trade performance in the near term.
