The 74th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair, from September 8 to 12, aims to reinforce Thailand’s position as a global trading hub for gems and jewellery while generating at least US$160 million in transactions, organisers said.

Occupying the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center’s full exhibition area of over 53,000 square metres, the show will host more than 1,300 exhibitors from over 20 countries. It is expected to welcome at least 45,000 visitors from around the world.

Thailand’s Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) is Bangkok Gems’ main organiser, with The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) serving as co-organiser.

DITP Deputy Director-General Surinthorn Sunthornsanan said, “For more than 40 years, the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair has been a key driving force for Thailand’s gems and jewellery industry, one of the country’s top 10 export industries. Today, Bangkok Gems is recognised as one of the world’s top four major gems and jewellery trade fairs and the world’s largest coloured gemstone trading hub.”

He noted that despite global economic volatility and reciprocal tariff measures imposed by major trading partners, Thailand’s gems and jewellery exports reached US$8.253 billion in the first six months of 2026, a year-on-year increase of 11.58 per cent.

Focus on ODM

DITP is now placing greater emphasis on upgrading Thai entrepreneurs from Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) to Original Design Manufacturing (ODM), enabling them to develop their own products and designs while building Thai brands with stronger recognition in global markets.

The upcoming fair will thus include The Designer Zone, which will highlight the creativity of Thai designers and the expertise of Thai manufacturers.

Sunthornsanan said, “Design and branding are among the most powerful drivers of value creation, demonstrating that Thailand is not only a skilled manufacturing base with exceptional craftsmanship, but also a source of internationally competitive creativity.”

GIT Director General Sumed Prasongpongchai added, “Thailand is internationally recognised as a global coloured gemstone trading hub, supported by its long-established expertise in gemstone cutting and enhancement. This success will be showcased through the special exhibition ‘The Craft of Brilliance,’ which traces the development of Thailand’s gems and jewellery industry – from its foundations in traditional knowledge and craftsmanship to the value creation made possible through expertise, technology and innovation. The exhibition will also feature academic works and showcase the evolution of research in gems and jewellery.”

GIT will provide on-site gemstone and jewellery testing and certification services through an internationally accredited laboratory.

The fair will also feature a comprehensive programme of industry-focused activities, including marketing and technical seminars, skill-building workshops for entrepreneurs, and a Networking Reception, providing buyers and industry professionals from around the world with opportunities to connect, forge partnerships and develop new business relationships.
