Qatar Diamond Exchange expands global network
The Qatar Diamond
Exchange (QDE) has signed partnership agreements with organisations in the UK,
Hong Kong and Africa, further extending its international reach.
The Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) with the London Diamond Bourse (LDB), signed by QDE
Director Ghanim Al-Saadi and LDB President Charlotte Rose, establishes a
non-binding framework for the two exchanges to connect their memberships,
encourage commercial ties and pursue broader cooperation. Both sides will
support bilateral visits and reciprocal participation in events, tenders,
auctions and viewings hosted by either exchange.
QDE’s MoU with the
Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China (DFHK), signed by Al-Saadi and DFHK
Founding President Lawrence Ma, similarly links the two communities. Members
and management on both sides will be welcomed at each other’s events, tenders,
auctions and viewings, with a schedule of visits between Doha and Hong Kong.
Meanwhile, its MoU
with the Diamond, Gem & Jewellery Association of Southern Africa (DGJASA)
advances QDE’s ambition to establish Qatar as a strategic gateway between
African diamond producers and international markets.
Al-Saadi said,
“Southern Africa is central to the global diamond industry, with a long history
of production, expertise and trade. This partnership creates an opportunity for
Qatar Diamond Exchange to build stronger relationships with the region's diamond
community and connect its businesses with new markets through Qatar.”
DGJASA President
Molefi Letsiki added that Qatar's strategic location and growing diamond
trading ecosystem make it a promising partner for the region.
Earlier this year, QDE
signed MoUs with the Diamond Exchange of Singapore (DES), the Shanghai Diamond
Exchange (SDE), the Tokyo Diamond Exchange (TDE) and Borsa Diamanti d’Italia
(Diamond Bourse of Italy).
