Diamond is a significant export product of Thailand. In 2017, diamond's export value ranked the third among other products under the gem and jewelry category with a share of 12.19 percent of the gross export value. Diamond was behind unwrought or semi-manufactured gold and fine jewelry which earned a 44.54 and 28.61 percent share respectively.

Diamond, earning the export value of USD 1,671.60 million, was the third largest export product in 2016 under the gem and jewelry category with a share of 11.73 percent of the gross export value. Polished diamond, with the export value of USD 1,569.92 million, dominated most of its share, despite a 2.88 percent decline from the previous year. Rough diamond, the following product, earned the export value of USD 100.85 million, a 36.56 percent drop.

Diamond was the third major export product in gem and jewelry category with a 16.17 percent share of the overall export value. In 2015, securing the export value of USD 1,777.42 million, a 3.21 percent drop from the previous year. Amidst the sluggish recovery of global economy in 2015, buyers' demand for relatively high-priced polished diamonds decreased.
